Where to Get Fired Up

All of these locations either have specific programs for women or say they can arrange them upon request. And most have other classes and can design ones on a case-by-case basis:

BBSG ACADEMY. Classes range from $80-$150 a person depending on group size and skills taught. Beginner classes typically include four hours of classroom training and one hour of range time. BLUE RIDGE ARSENAL . Beginner classes are offered every other Wednesday at 6 p.m. for four hours for $125 a person. Private introductory lessons are $65 an hour (minimum of three hours). 14725K Flint Lee Rd., Chantilly. 703-818-0230. http://www.blueridgearsenal.com/ .

GILBERT INDOOR RANGE. Billed as the "largest indoor range on the East Coast," it offers a two-day basic pistol class for $165 a person. 14690 Rothgeb Dr., Rockville. 301-315-0300. http://www.gilbertindoorrange.com/ .

NRA RANGE. The First Steps pistol class is $100 a person and includes 4 1/2 hours of classroom instruction and one hour on the shooting range. 11250 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax. 703-267-1400. http://www.nrahq.org/ .

PIEDMONT NRA INSTRUCTORS. The basic pistol class includes at least 10 hours of classroom and range time for $75 a person.
