It is the first condominium project undertaken by the three groups: D.C. Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Mid-Atlantic Region.

Groundbreaking for the condo, in Westbrook Forest at 11316 Lee Hwy., is scheduled for March, according to a news release.

Nationally, Habitat for Humanity International and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans plan to build up to 312 houses this year in 43 states. The effort is part of a new alliance, Thrivent Builds With Habitat for Humanity.

"We want to reach out and help even more families each year, and this can only be done through innovative alliances," Jonathan Reckford, chief executive of Habitat for Humanity International, said in the release. "Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is bringing not only its generous donation but also engaging its members and communities to volunteer time and raise funds for this effort."
