Jerome Bettis is ready to make a run at a new career.

He said yesterday he has spoken to Fox about joining the network's NFL broadcast team. Bettis retired after the Pittsburgh Steelers beat Seattle, 21-10, in the Super Bowl earlier this month.

"Right now I'm looking for a job, so hopefully the opportunity will present itself," Bettis said on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends." He said if a job were offered he would take it.

"No question," he said.

The Bus ended his football career after 13 seasons, retiring as the league's fifth-best career rusher. . . .

Eric Crouch is heading to the CFL, the third Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback to play for the Toronto Argonauts.

The 27-year-old former Nebraska star joined a team that once featured Doug Flutie and Andre Ware . Crouch is expected to back up to Damon Allen , who was the CFL's outstanding player last season but turns 43 this year.

He won the Heisman in 2001 when he set school records for yards (2,625) and rushing attempts (203) by a quarterback. . . .

Former Green Bay Packers coach Mike Sherman was hired as a Houston Texans assistant, becoming the seventh of eight coaches fired after last season to get another job in the NFL.
