Some fees have been around for years, such as airline charges for overweight or extra bags. But others have only recently popped up. Some of the fees listed below depend on the grade of ticket purchased; buying a higher-grade ticket will sometimes allow you to avoid extra charges.
AIR CANADA
Paper ticket: $20
Booking flight with telephone reservation agent: $15
Booking flight with airport ticket-counter agent: $15
Booking flight using frequent-flier miles with telephone agent: $25
Changing reservation: $22
Advance seat assignment: $12 (some ticket classes)
Reserved aisle or exit-row seat: Free
Unaccompanied minor: $50 each way (plus airfare)
Curbside baggage check-in: N/A
Extra baggage: $75 to $125
