The top ranked Lake Braddock boys' soccer team topped previously undefeated AAA Patriot District foe Hayfield , 1-0, last night.

Junior forward Garrett Patrick scored his second goal of the season early in the second half off an assist from senior midfielder John Corser. Lake Braddock (7-0-2, 3-0-1) has won its past five games against Hayfield (5-1-2, 2-1-1) by one-goal margins.

"It's definitely been a very good rivalry over the last three or four years. We figured that they would give us every bit of the game that they did," Lake Braddock Coach Joe Soos said. The defending district regular season and tournament champion Bruins entered the night in a three-way tie for first place with Hayfield and No. 5 West Springfield . The Spartans defeated Lee , 2-1, in overtime to stay with the Bruins atop the standings.

Brentsville on a Roll

The Brentsville boys' soccer team remained unbeaten with a 1-0 win over host Central-Woodstock yesterday.

Junior forward Frank Boateung, the team's leading scorer, registered the lone goal in the 23rd minute. Junior goalkeeper Ryan Johnston combined with a strong defensive performance for the team's third shutout this season.

Brentsville (9-0, 7-0) is seeking its first district championship since joining the AA Northwestern District two seasons ago. "So far this year, we're the team to beat I guess," Coach Chip Rohr said. "I thought we'd be competitive, but we've really come together well. " . . .

Junior forward Michelle Browning scored with one minute left in the first overtime period to lead the T.C. Williams girls' soccer team past visiting South County , 1-0. T.C. Williams improved to 7-5-1.

Flint Hill Rallies

The Flint Hill boys' lacrosse team overcame a four-goal halftime deficit to win, 8-7, against visiting Highland .

Flint Hill (7-2) scored four times in the fourth quarter, including the game-winner from junior midfielder Alex Mackaronis with 2 minutes 4 seconds remaining. It was his second goal of the game.

Senior attack Alex Converse led the Huskies with four goals. Junior goalkeeper Tucker Coyle helped erase the 6-2 halftime deficit by allowing only one second-half goal. He finished with 17 saves.

No-Hitter for Barrie

Freshman Brian Silverman (1-1) pitched a five-inning no-hitter in his second start of the season as Barrie went on the road to defeat Montrose Christian , 11-0.

Flowers Commits

St. Mary's Ryken junior forward John Flowers, a third-team All-Met, orally committed to West Virginia last night. The 6-foot-7 Flowers transferred from Thomas Stone last summer and sat out the first six games of the season per Washington Catholic Athletic Conference transfer rules. He averaged 17.5 points and 11 rebounds per game and led Ryken to a fifth-place finish in the WCAC. . . .

Damian Ferragamo yesterday announced he has resigned after two seasons as Parkdale 's football coach. He guided the Riverdale school to an 8-12 record.
