A weekly playlist for the listener with a one-track mind.

Beirut: "Postcards From Italy"

Behold as the indie-rock blogosphere crowns a new prince. His name is Zach Condon, a 19-year-old from Albuquerque who performs as Beirut, and his charming warble of a voice sounds aces alongside a ramshackle marching band of snare drums, trumpets and ukuleles.

Trap Squad (featuring Fabo): "What's Happenin' "

Snap music is what's happenin'. The super-minimal style of hip-hop continues to saunter out of Atlanta after delivering huge hits (and ring tones) from D4L and Dem Franchize Boyz. Ridiculously simple and undeniably catchy, "What's Happenin' " positions Trap Squad as the next snap group to go pop.

Ane Brun: "Balloon Ranger"

The Scandinavian singer plucks bittersweet notes from her guitar and gift-wraps them in emotive vocal harmonies, making for some of the most haunting indie-folk this side of your favorite Cat Power tune.

The RH Factor & D'Angelo: "[Expletive]"

Young jazzman Roy Hargrove coaxes R&B recluse D'Angelo out of hiding to croon a tune with a title that our moms would ground us for printing in the paper. Hargrove's trumpet sounds fine here, but D'Angelo's seldom-heard pipes are the highlight of this ambling soul-jazz ditty.

Debbie Harry: "Dirty N Deep"

Before Madonna rhymed "Mini Cooper" with "super-duper" on her 2003 single "American Life," Debbie Harry's bars on the Blondie hit "Rapture" held the title for most grating rap off all time. Debbie gets her crown back with "Dirty N Deep," a paean to jailed rapper Lil' Kim. "She wants love and affection/not the house of correction," Harry mumbles in misguided tribute. Download, listen, laugh and delete.
