Police Investigate 3 Killings

Prince George's County police are investigating the killings of three people, including a woman who was beaten to death while she was being wheeled down a street in a wheelchair.

The woman, Charlene Jackson, 37, was attacked at 6:45 p.m. Thursday in Avondale, just over the District border. Darrell Lattisaw, 44, of the 200 block of V Street NW beat her and the person who was wheeling her, police said.

Detectives do not know of a motive for the attack, which took place in the 4900 block of Lasalle Road. Officers said Lattisaw had drugs in his system at the time of the assault. He was charged with first-degree murder.

At 9 p.m. Friday, Grafton Arthur Forde, 37, was discovered stabbed several times at his home in the 2000 block of Ray Leonard Road in Palmer Park. Police believe the attacker was Kraystle Shantelle Peake, 22, with whom he lived. Peake was arrested at the home and charged with first-degree murder.

On Sunday, Christopher Leon Hardy, 28, was discovered at 11:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of 57th Avenue in Bladensburg. He had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not have a motive or suspect.

Man Charged in Rape Attempt

Montgomery County police have charged a 44-year-old Wheaton man with attempted first-degree rape, kidnapping and false imprisonment in a sexual assault attempt on a 21-year-old woman who was forced into his home Thursday.

Nazim Shahabdeen approached the woman about 7:10 a.m. as she was talking on a pay phone outside the CVS drugstore at Veirs Mill and Randolph roads, police said. Shahabdeen, who was not known to the woman, implied that he had a gun, told her he that knew her name and other details about her, and forced her to walk toward his residence, police said. The two struggled in the man's bedroom and the woman fled, police said.
