Vienna Arts Society Member Exhibit

The Vienna Arts Society will hold an all-member exhibit through June 25.

Various styles and techniques will be featured in the show, including paintings, glassworks, jewelry and sculpture.

Evening of Big Band And Jazz Music

The fifth annual Big Band Extravaganza will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Fairfax High School.

The show features the Lanier Middle School Jazz Ensemble, the Fairfax High School Jazz Band (Fairfax Jazz) and Take Note (formerly Swing Shift).

Tickets are $8; $5 for seniors and students. Refreshments will be available for purchase; proceeds benefit the Fairfax High School bands.

Latin Music and Dance With the Fairfax Symphony

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra concludes its 2005-06 season with a Latin pops concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at George Mason University's Center for the Arts.

The program will include works by Mexican, Cuban, Colombian and Brazilian composers and Argentine tango master Astor Piazzolla. Exhibition tango dancers QuinTango will also perform.

Movies to Support Hospital for Children

This year's free Cox Movies Under the Moon series will begin June 23 at Van Dyck Park with a screening of "Madagascar."

Subsequent movies include: "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," June 24; "The Princess Bride," June 25; "Hitch," June 26; and "Raiders of the Lost Ark," June 27.

The park is at 3730 Old Lee Hwy. in Fairfax. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and movies begin at 8:30. Movies will be projected onto a 40-by-20-foot screen with Dolby surround sound.

Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

High School Bands Get State Honors

The Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association has designated 10 Fairfax County high school bands as Virginia Honor Bands.

The schools are: Annandale, Chantilly, Falls Church, Lake Braddock, Madison, Robinson, Stuart, West Potomac, West Springfield and Woodson.

Jazz and Panpipes In Summer Concerts

Free concerts have been added to the summer entertainment offered by the Lake Anne Merchants Association in Reston. They will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, today through August.

The Latin band Sol Y Rumba kicks off the series tonight, followed by the Andean, New Age and panpipe flutes of Mystic Warriors on June 8 and the vocal bebop sound of the Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet on June 15.
