Player of the Year
D Joe Wascavage
St. Mary's Ryken, Sr.
A four-year starter, Wascavage anchored a defense that allowed six goals or fewer in 15 of its 19 games. An inspirational leader, he returned from a ruptured spleen to lead his team to the regular-season Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title. He was named WCAC co-player of the year. Will play for Towson.

St. Mary's Ryken
Since starting the program in 1989, Sothoron has built the Knights into a consistent contender. This year, despite battling injuries throughout the roster, Ryken finished the regular season strong with a win over Good Counsel that assured it its best record (16-3) and a No. 1 seed in the WCAC tournament.
First Team
A David Spaulding, Calverton, Sr.
The Maryland Independent Lacrosse League player of the year, Spaulding had 39 goals and 30 assists for the Cougars, including three in the MILL title game. He will play for Johns Hopkins.
A Peter Athens, Northern, Fr.
Athens led the Southern Maryland Athletic Conference in points (84) and assists (36) and, as a freshman, broke the school's single-season points record.
A Eric Beasley, Great Mills, Sr.
A versatile attacker, Beasley had 56 goals and 10 assists for the Hornets and was among the team leaders with 86 groundballs. He will play at Greensboro College.
A John Brozena, Calverton, Sr.
Brozena led the Cougars in goals (45) and assists (34) and scored three goals in the MILL title game. He will play for Dartmouth.
MF Phil Mergner, St. Mary's Ryken, Sr.
The team captain and three-year starter for the Knights notched 43 points and first-team all-WCAC honors. He will play for Roanoke.
MF Chris Brennan, St. Mary's Ryken, Sr.
The long stick midfielder shadowed the opponents' best midfielder; he notched 55 groundballs for the Knights. He will play for the Rochester Institute of Technology.
MF Ben Ganley, Calverton, Sr.
Ganley anchored the midfield for a Cougars team that was undefeated in the MILL. He scored 30 goals and had 15 assists and will play for Towson.
MF David Taylor, Northern, Sr.
The all-American had 46 goals and 19 assists as he led the Patriots to a 10-1 record in the SMAC and 12-4 overall. He will play at Queens College.
D Hunter Roof, Calverton, Sr.
Roof led the defense with an average of more than five groundballs and four takeaways per game. He will play for Queens College.
G Allen Frere, Great Mills, Sr.
Frere had 198 saves and allowed just over seven goals per game as he notched five wins in net for the Hornets. He will play for Mount Saint Mary's.
