Bay Technologies Consulting Group Inc. plans to hire about 16 people in the next two months. George C. Sellner, president, talked with The Post's Andrea Caumont.
Q What does your company do?
AWe specialize in helping organizations maximize their IT investment, particularly business applications, including procurement systems, financial systems, enterprise resource planning, human resources and logistics. We do that in a number of ways -- from helping them to get better productivity on existing systems by changing business processes to taking legacy systems and integrating them so they're not quite so stovepiped. We also do custom software development.
What do you think your employees would say are the best reasons for working at your company?
When we started this company we wanted a company that we would want to work for as well. Not just another job, but a company that appreciated the employees and challenged them while understanding and really valuing what they contribute to our success. Because of our work, so many of our employees are at a customer site and are interacting with the customers on a very high level. It's super important that they not only have the technical experience, but also a certain level of enthusiasm and pride in what they bring to the company. We've tried to instill that in our employees.
Who owns your company?
Myself and Catherine Rice, our chief executive.
What sense of stability can your company offer job candidates?
I think we're very stable. We've been in business since 1998, we have a variety of long-term contracts, and we're in the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program through 2012. We see nothing but growth for the next decade.
What are the demographics of your company?
Company-wide, we're 61 percent female and 15 percent minority. On the six-person senior management team, there are four women and two minorities.
What positions do you have available, and what level of expertise do you want?
We're looking for about five network administrators with at least three years of experience supporting Microsoft Networking Infrastructures. An MCSE certification is a plus. We also need five Web services developers with five years of experience working with .NET and J2EE as well as five ColdFusion programmers with five years of experience. We do work with the federal government. Security clearances are not necessary but are desirable.
