CONGRESSIONAL PAY RAISE
For: 249 / Against: 167
The House affirmed a 2 percent congressional pay raise that is scheduled to take effect in January 2007, increasing rank-and-file House and Senate salaries to $168,500. The House speaker and secretary of the Senate each will receive about $217,300 next year, and the majority and minority leaders of both chambers each will receive about $187,200. The vote occurred during debate on a fiscal 2007 appropriations bill for the Treasury Department and other agencies (HR 5576).
A yes vote backed the pay raise.
