METRORAIL
A Big Week for Ridership
Metrorail recorded 783,093 trips Friday, the seventh-highest weekday total in the system's 30-year history and the fourth consecutive day of high ridership last week, officials said.
Transit officials said Friday's sold-out Washington Nationals' game against the New York Yankees contributed to the increased ridership, accounting for about 35,400 trips.
Metrorail recorded 786,843 trips last Tuesday, the sixth-highest weekday total. Wednesday (774,802) and Thursday (777,287) also joined Metro's top 10 list for weekday ridership. On a typical weekday, people take about 700,000 rides on Metrorail.
