Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roderick Green was released yesterday from Sinai Hospital in Maryland after being stabbed in the stomach early Sunday morning.

The attack occurred at a bowling alley in Randallstown, Md., after incidental contact between Green and his attacker. Words were exchanged and, according to the police report, Green then decided to leave Kings Point Lanes.

Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Vickie Warehime said that, according to witnesses, as Green was leaving, the attacker broke free from a friend trying to restrain him and caught up to Green before stabbing him once in the parking lot. Green ran away after being stabbed and was chased for a short distance before the assailant fled in the direction of a nearby apartment complex.

"To our knowledge, the suspect and the assailant did not know each other," Warehime said.

Green left the bowling alley with a friend and called police from his home.

Warehime said yesterday afternoon that there were no suspects in the case.

"We're going back to the scene and going over the surveillance cameras to see if there's anything," Warehime said. "Interviews have been conducted, trying to determine who the suspect is."

Green, 24, was drafted 153rd overall by the Ravens in 2004. Ravens officials told the Associated Press that it was too early to know whether Green would be available for the start of training camp July 27.
