Wanna Make a Trade?
· A Canadian man who offered to swap a big red paper clip for something better finally got what he wanted this week. After 14 trades over 12 months, Kyle MacDonald has a house of his own.
His series of online trades included a fish-shaped pen, a camping stove, a snowmobile, a recording contract and an afternoon with rocker Alice Cooper.
Eventually MacDonald, 26, was able to trade a movie role for a three-bedroom house in Saskatchewan in western Canada.
Listen to This· A 45-year-old elephant at a zoo in Croatia became very sad when her partner of 10 years died recently. She refused to eat and seemed very depressed. Then she heard the music of Mozart.
A classical concert near her dwelling caught Suma's attention. "She leaned against the fence, closed her eyes and listened," the head zookeeper said. The zoo then got Suma her own stereo and reports that she likes music by Vivaldi and Bach, but adores Mozart.
Here's a way to see if you like classical music: The National Symphony Orchestra has free family concerts tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Carter Barron Amphitheatre in Rock Creek Park. Before the concerts you can even try out the instruments (if it's not raining).
