Philadelphia's Myers Is Back After Arrest

Phillies RHP Brett Myers rejoined the team yesterday and is expected to pitch tomorrow against the Giants after taking a leave of absence following his arrest on charges that he hit his wife in the face. A somber Myers spoke for 45 seconds and left without taking questions.

"I want to apologize to my wife, my family, my teammates, the entire Phillies organization and especially the fans," he said. "I would like to thank you for respecting our privacy. We've both decided it is time for me to rejoin the team."

Phillies C Mike Lieberthal said his teammates remain supportive of Myers's efforts.

Myers and his wife, Kim , will continue to participate in professional counseling sessions as part of the Phillies' employee assistance program.

· BONDS GETS READY: Barry Bonds 's legal team is preparing for the San Francisco slugger to be indicted as soon as next week and has begun plotting his defense. Attorney Laura Enos told the Associated Press that Bonds could be charged with tax evasion and perjury. Enos, Bonds's personal attorney, also said the lawyers believe the grand jury investigating the star player will expire next Thursday.

· NO HARM DONE: The Dodgers said they have no plans to trade disgruntled LHP Odalis Perez after he made disparaging remarks about the team.

Perez accused the Dodgers of treating him like "trash" moments after he gave up a 14th-inning home run to the Cardinals' Albert Pujols on Thursday.

· MULDER OUT A LITTLE LONGER: Cardinals LHP Mark Mulder is expected to miss another month with a shoulder injury.
