Homeland Security Official to Join Hunton

Hunton & Williams LLP said Maureen C. Cooney, the acting chief privacy officer at the Department of Homeland Security, will join the firm's privacy and information management practice in the District office in September.

Cooney, who will serve as counsel to the firm, had previously worked at the Federal Trade Commission, in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and at the Office of Thrift Supervision.

In other moves at major firms:

· Fish & Richardson PC said Donna A. Balaguer joined its District office in the regulatory and government affairs group. She specializes in matters before the Federal Communications Commission, including the wireless telecommunications spectrum, and is a former vice president and counsel of MCI WorldCom Inc.

· Powell Goldstein LLP said Keith A. Dunsmore is returning to the firm as a partner. He is part of a capital markets group -- including a partner and six attorneys who will work in a new Dallas office -- that came to the firm from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
