This theater company affords nothing to distract audiences from the sound of its audio productions. "Close your eyes if you'd like," instructs Arthur Yorinks, founder and artistic director of the Night Kitchen Radio Theater , encouraging folks to use their imaginations during his troupe's performances of comedies, dramas and musicals geared toward family audiences. "But don't fall asleep."
The actors, who are joined by a team of musicians and sound effects technicians, present a play adapted from a work of fiction. The team has been performing for three years and began monthly shows at the Kennedy Center in December. Productions are also recorded for broadcast on XM Satellite Radio. Tonight, Night Kitchen performs The Fisherman and His Wife , a tale by the Grimm Brothers. Free. 6 p.m. Kennedy Center Family Theater, 2700 F St. NW. 202-467-4600.
