NEW DELHI -- It's been an up and down time for Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai lately. The 32-year-old actress _ a former Miss World _ has lost weight, gained weight and lost it again for successive film roles, the Times of India newspaper reported Thursday.

Rai was most recently asked to shed a few pounds for "Dhoom 2 (Big Bang 2)," which is being shot in Namibia.

Her personal trainer, Deepika, is putting "Ash," as she is known in Bollywood, through two-hour workouts starting at 4 a.m. each morning.

"Ash is a very dedicated actress and she is working to get into the skin of her role," Rai's manager, Hari Singh, told the newspaper.

The actress had picked up some extra pounds for "Guru," which she was filming before heading to Namibia for "Dhoom 2."
