Pick of the Fringe

Saturday, July 29, 2006; C09

For this final installment of our Capital Fringe Festival musings, we're highlighting a show for one reason only: It's actually at the pool. In the pool, even!

"La Corbière," by Anne Le Marquand Hartigan and performed by Solas Nua (the area's newish, Irish-leaning company whose "Bedbound" recently won praise), is the story of mysterious French prostitutes who were killed in a shipwreck at Corbière Lighthouse in Europe. Initially set for Meridian Hill Park, the change to the Georgetown public pool should give the production a real waterlogged feel -- and in true Fringe fashion, raises the likelihood of the unexpected. $15. At 9 tonight and tomorrow night, 3400 Volta Pl. NW.

Also on tap tonight: The Escapists, a sketch-comedy troupe from Portland, Maine (its improv acts and "happenings" have kept its home city on its toes), perform their sketch show "Keep Moving." $15. At 8 tonight and 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Warehouse Next Door, 1017 Seventh St. NW. 866-811-4111.
