Fulbright & Jaworski Names Head of Supreme Court Practice

Jonathan Franklin joined the D.C. office of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP to head up its Supreme Court practice and serve as co-chair of if its national appellate group.

Franklin, 42, has argued five cases before the Supreme Court and was a partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP.

Other moves involving major firms:

· Kilpatrick Stockton LLP said Keith Harper joined the firm's D.C. office as a partner and will head its Native American affairs section. Harper, a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, worked in private practice and as a judicial clerk before becoming a staff attorney at the Native American Rights Fund. He represents Native Americans in a long-running class-action lawsuit against the federal government, Cobell v. Kempthorne .

· Kurt Wimmer, who was a media and intellectual property lawyer at Covington & Burling LLP, is joining Gannett Co. of McLean on Aug. 21 as senior vice president and general counsel. Wimmer was a copy editor, photographer and reporter before becoming a lawyer. He is replacing Thomas L. Chapple, who retired.

· Greenberg Traurig LLP said Larry D. Harris joined its construction litigation and government contracts practice in its District office. Harris was previously a partner with DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP.

· Nixon Peabody LLP named Laurin H. Mills the managing partner of its District office. The firm said he succeeds Tina Wilcox, who was promoted to manage the firm's national real estate group.
