Regarding the Aug. 9 front-page story about Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman's defeat in Connecticut's Democratic primary and his decision to seek reelection as an independent:

The Post quoted him as saying: "For the sake of our state, our country and my party, I cannot, I will not let this result stand."

Mr. Lieberman should have added, "for the sake of my own super-sized ego" to his high-minded list of reasons, as it is obvious that his bloated sense of entitlement has blinded him to the simple fact that Connecticut voters rejected him.
