D.C. United midfielder Domenic Mediate had surgery on his broken right leg Monday and is out for the season.

Mediate was injured five minutes after entering as a substitute in the second half of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Mediate has played in eight games with two starts this season for United. He was acquired in March in a trade with the Columbus Crew, who selected the former Maryland player in the second round of the 2005 draft.
