After running into a couple of you wee, lost-looking kiddies at the Beirut show last week (and feel free to hate us, 'cause we totally got in), we decided to dedicate this edition of On the Go to the newbie university crowd: It's the College Freshman's Guide to Washington .

Here is the one rule: Metro doesn't run all night. Trains run till midnight Sunday through Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, but that last train could come even a half-hour before closing time, so get there early or plan on taking a cab home. That said, here are our personal picks for nightlife:

Best Place to Rebel Against Everything Your Parents Taught You If you're at U-Md., where there's not a whole lot in the way of clubs, it's Prince Cafe. This strip-mall hookah bar and restaurant serves food, is friendly toward the under-21 set and is open late (till 2 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays). A hookah will run a group a mere $9.95. (Prince is also in Georgetown and Adams Morgan, among other places.) 8145-A Baltimore Ave. 301-513-0800.

Best You're-Too-Young-to-Get-Into-Most-Places-and- Your-Fake-ID's-Been-Confiscated Place to Go Clubbing Dupont Circle club MCCXXIII lets the 18-and-up crowd in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The club (hint: people who know call it "twelve twenty-three") spins house, and cover depends on who's throwing the party, but it's usually $10. 1223 Connecticut Ave. NW. 202-822-1800. Were we 18 again, we'd prefer nearby, cozy Andalu (1214 18th St. NW), which attracts the young house-heads on Thursdays, when it's 18 and up. $10. 202-785-9525. (Metro it: Red Line to Dupont Circle.)

Best Place to Meet That Meek, Vegan, Hoodie-Wearing Girl / Guy You'll Date Till Junior Year : The Warehouse Next Door music venue is all-ages, Metro-accessible and luring cooler acts every day. Check out Enon (Sept. 21), which seems to have found its niche ever since its formerly spastic punks caught the electro bug and went Ladytron-ish. $10. 1017 Seventh St. NW. 202-783-3933. (Green Line to Mount Vernon Square station. FYI: Terps, you can catch the Green Line directly there.)
