HOMICIDES


SILVER RIDGE CIR., 6400 block, 11 a.m. Sept. 12. Fire and rescue personnel took an unresponsive child to the Springfield HealthPlex, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation revealed that 21-month-old Myles Simon of Alexandria had died of blunt force trauma to the head while at his babysitter's home. The babysitter had left the child and three other children in the care of her 24-year-old husband while she ran an errand. When she returned, the child was unresponsive. A warrant was issued charging the man with homicide. He was detained near an airport in New York.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS


BACKLICK RD., 5500 block. An engine was stolen from a vehicle.

BACKLICK WOODS CT., 5400 block. A briefcase was stolen from a vehicle.

BRADDOCK RD., 6900 block. Cash was stolen from a residence.

BRANDON AVE., 6200 block. Three digital cameras were stolen from a business.

BROADMOOR ST., 5700 block. Loose change was stolen from a vehicle.

COMMERCE ST., 6800 block. Two temporary tags were stolen from a vehicle.

FRANCONIA RD., 6100 block. A cellphone was stolen from a purse.

HAGEL CIR., 9900 block. A parking permit was stolen from a vehicle.

HIGHLAND ST., 7600 block. A computer was stolen from a residence.
