FAIRFIELD HOUSE DR., 12000 block, 8:15 p.m. Sept. 11. A man grabbed a 46-year-old pedestrian from behind and groped her. When she screamed, he fled. No injuries were reported.

WILLOW CRESCENT DR., 3300 block, 11:40 p.m. Sept. 10. A man came up behind a 26-year-old female pedestrian and pulled her shorts down. When she screamed, he fled. No injuries were reported.

ARNIEL PL., 4400 block. A cellphone was stolen from a business.

BRADDOCK RD., 12200 block. A boat motor was stolen from a boat at a residence.

HOMICIDES

SILVER RIDGE CIR., 6400 block, 11 a.m. Sept. 12. Fire and rescue personnel took an unresponsive child to the Springfield HealthPlex, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation revealed that 21-month-old Myles Simon of Alexandria had died of blunt force trauma to the head while at his babysitter's home. The babysitter had left the child and three other children in the care of her 24-year-old husband while she ran an errand. When she returned, the child was unresponsive. A warrant was issued charging the man with homicide. He was detained near an airport in New York.

ROBBERIES

ARLINGTON BLVD., 6500 block, 4:50 p.m. Sept. 7. A man forced his way into a business and tried to steal items from employees. After failing at that, he walked outside, pulled a man from his car, and tried to drive it away. Police officers making a traffic stop nearby intervened, with one firing a shot at the man as he drove off with an officer holding the door of the car. A second officer was knocked down by the vehicle as it fled. Other police joined the pursuit, and the car stopped after being hit by one of their vehicles. A 24-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with carjacking and burglary with intent to commit robbery. He was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. A police officer was treated at the same hospital for injuries to his upper body. The 55-year-old carjacking victim was not injured.

RICHMOND HWY., 8500 block, 8:45 p.m. Sept. 12. Two men jumped into the back seat of a vehicle that two women had just gotten into and robbed them of a purse at gunpoint. No injuries were reported.

SACRAMENTO DR., 8600 block, 5:30 a.m. Sept. 12. Two men knocked a pedestrian to the ground, took his wallet and fled. No serious injuries were reported.

SEVEN WOODS DR., 4200 block, 7:20 a.m. Sept. 9. Two men at a bus stop robbed a 51-year-old man of his wallet, then pushed him to the ground. No serious injuries were reported.

BLUEBIRD LANE, 7900 block, 2:11 a.m. Sept. 10. A woman entered a residence without permission and assaulted a man and a woman. No serious injuries were reported. A 34-year-old District woman was charged with burglary, malicious wounding and domestic violence.

FUERTE CT., 8400 and 8500 block, 7:10 p.m. Sept. 11. A man entered two occupied residences by breaking front windows. When police arrived, he was trying break into a third residence. While being taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital to be treated for a laceration, the man assaulted a police officer and a paramedic. A 36-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with burglary, assault of police/medic personnel and with being drunk in public.

MAIN ST., 10300 block, 8 to 8:15 p.m. Sept. 12. A woman at a bus stop tried to burn a female with a cigarette, then flicked the cigarette at the victim, hitting her in the arm as she backed away. A 61-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with assault.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

MAIN ST., 10500 block, 1:30 a.m. Sept. 8. A man exposed himself to a couple in a business. One of the victims went outside and fought with the man. A 27-year-old Manassas man was charged with indecent exposure and with being drunk in public.

ELDEN ST., 100 block, 12:53 p.m. Sept. 7. An 18-year-old woman reported that a male acquaintance assaulted her. No injuries were reported.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 6:46 p.m. Sept. 5. A 19-year-old man reported that a female acquaintance assaulted him. No injuries were reported.

WORCHESTER ST., 600 block, 11:06 a.m. Sept. 4. A man broke off a section of fencing and threatened a police officer with it. A 36-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and destruction of property.

ELDEN ST., 1200 block, 6:52 p.m. Sept. 6. Three men robbed a 21-year-old man walking through a parking lot at knifepoint.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 4:47 p.m. Sept. 7. A male store employee used a manager's code to purchase merchandise at a reduced rate. A 20-year-old Reston man was charged with grand larceny.

ELDEN ST., 1000 block, 8:31 p.m. Sept. 10. A man was detained in a pharmacy. A 35-year-old Herndon man was charged with shoplifting and with being drunk in public.

WORLDGATE DR., 13000 block, 10:13 a.m. Sept. 4. A cab fare was not paid.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

JUNIPER CT., 300 block, 10:47 p.m. Sept. 10. A police officer found an unoccupied Jeep Liberty on Herndon Parkway. The vehicle, which had struck a tree, had been reported stolen. The incident is under investigation.

MAPLE AVE. W., 200 block, 10 a.m. Sept. 6. A man stole beer and milk from a convenience store. A witness recorded a license plate number. A 28-year-old Vienna man was charged with petty larceny.

PATRICK ST. SW, 300 block, 9:30 p.m. Sept. 6 to 8:45 a.m. Sept. 7. A Global Positioning System device was stolen from a vehicle at a residence. There was no sign of forced entry.

VANDALISM

MAPLE AVE. E., 200 block, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 8. The finish on a vehicle parked behind a restaurant was scratched.

PLUM ST. SW, 900 block, 6 p.m. Sept. 7 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 8. A window was broken on a vehicle parked at a residence. The vehicle was entered, but nothing was reported missing.
