Former Toronto Raptors GM Glen Grunwald is returning to the NBA to take a job in the New York Knicks' front office.
Grunwald, president and CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade, will be the Knicks' senior vice president of basketball operations, according to the team's Web site.
"I love this city, I love this job," Grunwald said on the Board of Trade's Web site, "but I could not turn down this offer to rejoin my old friend Isiah Thomas and the sport that I love."
Thomas, the president and head coach of the struggling Knicks, and Grunwald have been friends since they were teammates at Indiana University. Thomas brought Grunwald to Toronto when he was part-owner and executive vice president of the Raptors.

Restricted free agent Nikolai Zherdev ended months of contentious negotiations with the Columbus Blue Jackets, signing a three-year deal estimated to be worth more than $7 million.
Zherdev's signing returns one of the club's young stars to the fold after it appeared the Ukrainian right wing would spend the upcoming season in Russia.
