Suspected Gunman Takes Own Life

A man was shot and killed and a woman critically injured Saturday night in Woodridge by a gunman who police said killed himself when they tried to arrest him yesterday, Prince William County investigators said.

Police said Antron W. Allen, 27, of Dale City shot and killed Gerald Venable Jr., 24, of Richmond at 10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Woodmark Drive. Investigators said Allen also shot a 23-year-old woman, whom they did not identify. She was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they were trying to serve Allen with an arrest warrant yesterday at his home when he fatally shot himself in an apparent suicide.
