Tabloid Terror Making Its Way Toward Beltway

Rupert invading D.C. may be overstating things. Looks great in a big headline, though, doesn't it?
What we do know: Rupert Murdoch's perpetually alarmed New York Post tabloid, part of his NewsCorp Inc. media empire, began printing a "small number of copies" at printing presses owned by the Baltimore Sun over the summer, a New York Post spokeswoman confirmed yesterday.
Our suspicions were aroused after newsroom employees at The Post (The Washington Post, that is) began getting calls at home from New York Post sales people hawking same-day home delivery of the newspaper in the Washington-Baltimore region. The spokeswoman confirmed the paper makes sales calls in markets where it has satellite printing operations, such as Florida, California and now, south of Baltimore near I-95.
Should we be frightened? Does Murdoch have his eye on the capital of the free world? Another step in his insidious plan for world domination? "Sorry," the spokeswoman said, "we won't reveal our strategic plan."
