CRIME

Judge Denies Bond for Youth

Eugene Huff, the 17-year-old charged with shooting a fellow student outside Cardozo Senior High School last month, will remain jailed until he stands trial, a D.C. Superior Court judge ruled yesterday after a hearing.

D.C. police Detective Thomas S. Williams testified that the victim identified Huff as the person who shot him shortly after noon Sept. 21 in the 1300 block of Clifton Street NW, near the school. The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the leg and treated at Howard University Hospital. He might need reconstructive surgery, authorities said.

Huff is charged with assault with intent to murder. Williams testified yesterday that the shooting stemmed from a feud between two groups -- known as Clifton Terrace University, or CTU, and 3500. Huff is a member of CTU, and the victim was shot while going to lunch with youths who are members of 3500, the detective said.
