In other news, the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee elected officers last week. The committee's new chairman is business leader Terry L. Speigner .
Arthur A. Turner Jr. , the outspoken head of the Coalition of Central Prince George's Community Organizations, was chosen first vice chairman. Other new officers: Kurt Walter , second vice chairman; Pauletta Handy , third vice chairman; Mary R. Davis , secretary; Teena Green , assistant secretary; Ron G. Skotz , treasurer; Sidney L. Gibson , assistant secretary; and John B. Patterson , parliamentarian.
Choosing a New Team
With his win in the Sept. 12 Democratic primary, County Executive Johnson may have secured another four-year term. But that doesn't mean his team of top aides will stay on as well.
According to several members of the administration, Johnson requested that all appointees submit formal letters of resignation shortly after the election. He will then decide whose letters to accept. One member of the administration called that "standard protocol" to launch a second term.
This much we know now: Donna M.P. Wilson , head of the Department of Environmental Resources, has already said she will step down. Her replacement has not yet been named.
In July, Johnson named Howard Burnett , formerly the interim schools chief executive, as deputy chief administrative officer for health and human services. He replaced James A. Dula , who took a job as chief executive of the Prince George's Chamber of Commerce.
Jonathan Seeman , who has extensive governmental experience including as chief operating officer for the Maryland Transportation Authority and most recently budget director for Howard County, was named acting budget director just after the election in September. He replaces Thomas Himler .
Another change: The county's lobbyist, Len Lucchi , who has done work on contract in Annapolis since 2003, has departed. Lucchi, who also did labor negotiations for the county, will be replaced by two lawyers with the Funk & Bolton law firm. Tiffany Hanna Anderson will handle relations in the state capital, and Ernest A. Crofoot will negotiate labor contracts.
