A white woman with her 9-year-old daughter walked up to me (no doubt because I am black) and said, "I just want you to know that we are not a part of that, and we do not feel that way."

Back at the microphone, Stonewall blared: "Some of you call us haters. But we are not haters."

The woman covered her daughter's ears and yelled, "Yes, you are."

And when Stonewall said, "We serve the same God as you," she yelled again, "No, you don't," and hauled her daughter onto a departing shuttle bus.

"What a bummer," the child muttered.

Have we come a long way, or what?
