Montgomery County police are investigating vandalism at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School after anti-Semitic messages were spray-painted inside the school's stadium following the Barons' game at Whitman last Friday, possibly in retaliation for B-CC students spray-painting at Whitman's stadium the previous night.
Police also are investigating the vandalism at Whitman.
According to police spokeswoman Lucille Bauer, "B-CC" was painted over the Vikings' logo in the middle of Whitman's field, and a large white rock near the stadium's concession stand was painted blue.
The following night, after the Vikings beat the Barons, 42-0, multiple scrawls were sprayed inside B-CC's stadium, including a swastika on the track and "Holocaust '06" on a banner, B-CC Principal Sean Bulson said. Bauer said a police report did not mention either of those images.
"It's disturbing," Bulson said. "They go beyond a simple school prank. Vandalism is one thing, but hate messages are something far worse."
Bulson and Whitman Principal Alan Goodwin said they also were investigating.
