Keith Urban Checks Into Rehab

Country music star Keith Urban has voluntarily entered a rehabilitation center for treatment, according to a release from his publicist, Paul Freundlich. Urban arrived at the center with his wife, Nicole Kidman , by his side, the release says.

"I deeply regret the hurt this has caused Nicole and the ones that love and support me," Urban said in a statement. "One can never let one's guard down on recovery, and I'm afraid that I have."

Urban, who turns 39 next week, has publicly acknowledged a former addiction to cocaine. All immediate appearances for his forthcoming album, "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing," will be postponed. The album was set for release Nov. 7.

Dinner With George and Barbara

The Peking Gourmet Inn received a visit from two loyal customers Thursday night -- former president George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara .

According to one tipster, the former first lady entered the Falls Church restaurant a little before 8 p.m. and proceeded to a private table without acknowledging the light applause. The former president walked in moments later to a standing ovation. He smiled and shook a few hands before joining his wife.

Bush and his wife have been dining at the restaurant since his days as vice president under Ronald Reagan .

Smith Balks at DNA Test

Anna Nicole Smith has no intention of allowing her 6-week-old daughter to undergo a paternity test, according to her attorney. Smith's ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead, is seeking a court order to force Smith to bring the girl from the Bahamas to California for a DNA test. A birth certificate lists Smith's current boyfriend, Howard K. Stern , as the father of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern .

An attorney for Birkhead, Debra Opri , has said she is traveling to the islands this weekend to take depositions from Smith and Stern on Monday.

Smith buried her 20-year-old son, Daniel , on Thursday. He died while visiting his mother in a Nassau hospital three days after the baby was born on Sept. 7.

A pathologist hired by Smith said Daniel died of an accidental combination of methadone and two antidepressants. The results of official toxicology tests and a police investigation have not been publicly released.

George Michael's Puff Piece

Pop star George Michael sang the praises of marijuana during a recently taped television interview, prompting criticism from anti-drug campaigners yesterday. British television network ITV said the singer even lit up a joint while being interviewed for the arts program "The South Bank Show."

"This stuff keeps me sane and happy," Michael, 43, told the program. "I'd say it's a great drug -- but obviously it's not very healthy."
