Want to read more about the Asia Trail animals? The National Zoo staff recommends these books for children:

· "Where Have All the Pandas Gone?" by Melvin Berger and Gilda Berger; Scholastic Inc.; 48 pages; for ages 7 to 9. This paperback offers answers to more than 70 questions about endangered animals and how people around the world are working to save them.

· "My First Pocket Guide: Cats and Wild Cats" by John Seidensticker and Susan Lumpkin; National Geographic Society; 80 pages; for ages 7 to 10. A children's guide to felines large and small.

· "Search for the Golden Moon Bear: Science and Adventure in the Asian Tropics" by Sy Montgomery; Houghton Mifflin Co.; 80 pages; for ages 9 to 11. The author takes readers into the world of the scientist, as she reports on her expedition to Southeast Asia to track an elusive bear with unusual golden coloring.

· "China's Rare Wild Animals" by Sun Shuming, editor; Foreign Languages Press; 110 pages; for young adults. Part of the "Culture of China" series, this book features pictures and information about the country's rare species, some of which are featured on the Asia Trail.
