Pick Them Up

Wednesday, November 1, 2006

If you'd rather serve a professionally made confection than concoct one yourself, three of the pastry chefs involved in this project sell directly to the public.

· Peter Brett has left the Blue Duck Tavern to strike out on his own. To purchase one of his desserts, contact him at 202-302-3883 or http://www.peterbakes.com/ .

· In addition to her duties at Palena, Ann Amernick sells her creations, including wedding cakes, and teaches one-on-one pastry classes. Call her at 301-718-0434.

· Leopold's Kafe and Konditorei has a pastry case filled with confections for carryout, including whole cakes such as Sacher tortes, Linzer tortes and Dobos tortes. Pastry chef Neidra Holmstrom will also prepare small wedding cakes, but Leopold's does not deliver. 3315 Cady's Alley NW; 202-965-6005; http://www.kafeleopolds.com/ .
