ANNE ARUNDEL FATALITY
Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Suspect, Police Say
An Anne Arundel County police officer on Thursday fatally shot an armed man who was a suspect in a shooting earlier in the day, police said yesterday.
Police said Mansfield Albert Hurley, 25, was confronted at 10:47 p.m. inside his Lothian home by members of the department's Special Operations Section.
Officer Sara Schriver, a police spokeswoman, said Hurley pointed a long gun at officers and ignored a warning to "drop your weapon or I'll shoot." He "pointed the gun. That was it," Schriver said. "Officers were authorized to use their deadly force."
Police said the tactical unit had been executing arrest and search warrants based on a shooting at another Lothian residence early Thursday. The victim, Cornelius Hall, 41, identified Hurley as the man who shot him, police said.
