The following organizations need volunteer help for a day, for a week or on a regular basis.

Bethany House of Northern Virginia needs volunteers to help maintain facilities that care temporarily for battered spouses and their children who are homeless and destitute because of abuse. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday to manage the pantry, accept requests for and maintain contributions for Thanksgiving and Christmas, staff the hotline and complete clerical tasks. Hours are flexible. Training and supervision are provided. 703-658-9500.

World Heritage, a nonprofit exchange visitor program, needs a representative to provide program support to high school students from several countries around the world. The volunteer will screen potential host families, plan annual orientations, meet with high school officials, provide support counseling for participants and visit with the exchange students and families monthly. Furry Suits Rescue, an all-breed companion animal rescue organization, needs foster families and adoption event volunteers. http://www.furrysuitsrescue.org , 571-426-6674.
