Year founded: 1864.
Enrollment: About 1,800 degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. As much as 5 percent of each year's class is made up of hearing students.
Degrees offered: Bachelor's in 40 majors; professional graduate programs in social work, deaf education, international development and clinical psychology. Students also may design their own majors.
Tuition: $22,718 a year, including room and board.

Employees: 1,129 professors, administrators and support staff members, 41 percent of whom are deaf or hard of hearing.
