Mustapha Farrakhan Jr., the grandson of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, committed to play basketball at Virginia at a news conference at his high school. Farrakhan, a 6-foot-4 guard, attends Thornton Township High in Harvey, Ill., a suburb of Chicago.

"It came down to Illinois and Virginia, and in the end, I wanted to play in the ACC," Farrakhan told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Farrakhan attended Virginia's 93-90 victory over Arizona on Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.

Farrakhan became the third recruit to sign with the Cavaliers during the early signing period, which began last Wednesday and ends today, joining point guard Sam Zeglinski and shooting guard Jeff Jones.

The Cavaliers have 12 scholarship players out of the 13 allowed, and only J.R. Reynolds and Jason Cain are seniors, meaning they will have a full allotment next season.
