Chat Plus

During our weekly online chat (most Mondays at 2 p.m.), you ask and we answer your travel questions -- mostly. Here are a couple we couldn't get to last week.

From Metro Center: Just found out I'm going to Singapore with my boyfriend in January for a business trip. . . . I was hoping to get some ideas on fun stuff to do there by myself.

Singapore is a great place to explore on your own. It's easy to get around in the compact city-state, where English is an official language. Give each ethnic enclave its own afternoon, checking out Chinatown one day, Geylang Serai (including the Malay Village cultural center) the next, or explore the food stalls at Marina Bay. Don't miss the Night Safari, open 6 p.m. to midnight daily ( http://www.nightsafari.com.sg/). The city's tourism board offers six free itineraries on its Web site ( http://www.visitsingapore.com/).

From Flying in and out of Paris or Milan : Are the rules for carry-ons leaving Paris or Milan as bad as from London?

When headed from Paris to the United States, you can take all labeled medicines on board regardless of size. Ditto for duty-free items purchased in the airport. But liquids and gels have size restrictions and must be in a single plastic bag. Details: http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/. The same rules apply when leaving Milan: http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it/.
