OPENING In Time for the Holidays: A Look at Consumption The Flashpoint gallery opens "Consume," a five-artist show that explores various forms of consumption, from drinking and devouring to buying and tossing. The show includes video installations, photography and mixed-media paintings by D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania artists. (Check out the reception, Saturday from 5-7 p.m.) Free. Tuesday-Saturday noon-6 p.m. Through Jan. 6. 916 G St. NW. 202-315-1305.

CONCERT A Little Noise Candy Don't get us started about local bands. For one of the edgiest cities in American punk, we sure have a lot of bubblegum indie these days. With touring bands sort of winding up for the season, we're happy that among the locals who'll be filling venues for the next month are two of the rocking-est bands we know, the Sounds of Kaleidoscope and Owls and Crows. They're at the Black Cat's Backstage tonight. $8. 1811 14th St. NW. 202-667-7960.

Tomorrow

ON STAGE Comedy Blowout The title "Dane Cook's Tourgasm" is awfully misleading, because Cook, the fratboy-esque Boston comic, ain't coming. The show, instead, features his compadres (if marketing is to be believed, anyway). Gary Gulman, Robert Kelly and Jay Davis, whose backgrounds span appearances on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "Late Show With David Letterman" to episodes of "Law & Order," are at Warner Theatre tomorrow. But seriously, Cook won't be. $34.50. 8 p.m. 513 13th St. NW (between E and F streets). 202-397-7328.

CONCERT Project Mend-a-House Benefit The Potter's House bookstore and Sounds of Hope host a fundraising concert with bluegrass/gospel band Dead Men's Hollow to benefit Project Mend-a-House, a program that refurbishes the homes of seniors, the disabled and low-income residents in Prince William County. $10 donation suggested. 7 p.m. at the Potter's House, 1658 Columbia Rd. NW. Reserve seats at 202-232-5483.
