STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM
Appeals Court Vacates Sentence of Ex-Chairman
A federal appeals court said yesterday that Nathan A. Chapman Jr., a former state university system chairman convicted of fraud and other crimes two years ago, was improperly sentenced to a longer term than could be supported by jury findings.
The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals said guidelines were miscalculated when Chapman was sentenced to 90 months. The sentence was vacated and the case remanded.
