The Redskins were unable to score on their only two possessions of the quarter. Their first began at their 20 with Betts carrying for six and nine yards. Later on third and 10, Betts caught a pass on the left sideline for a 17-yard gain. On the next play, Campbell went deep to Randle El over the middle, but the ball was out of his reach in the end zone. The drive stalled at the Saints 47 with a punt by Derrick Frost. On their next possession, the Redskins went from their 30 to their 48 before having to punt. The Saints were not able to generate much offense either, punting the first two times they had the ball in the quarter.
