The Redskins came out with an impressive drive on their first possession of the game, marching from their 29 to the Saints 19. Running back Ladell Betts began the drive with an 11-yard run, then touched the ball consecutive times on a four-yard run and a 13-yard reception from quarterback Jason Campbell. Antwaan Randle El then picked up 20 yards on a reverse to the Saints 23. Washington managed nine more yards before Shaun Suisham kicked a 37-yard field goal. Two possessions later, the Redskins needed four plays to score their only touchdown. On first and 10 from the Saints 31, Campbell threw a pass to Santana Moss over the middle for a 31-yard score.
