NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY'S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT, Wednesday. The count circle of central Loudoun has a 15-mile diameter and covers 177 square miles. All are welcome, whether beginners or expert birders (amateurs are teamed with experienced birders). A $5 fee is charged for participants 19 and older to help offset the cost to Audubon of preparing the database of sightings and its publication in the Christmas bird count issue of American Birds.
