ARLINGTON BLVD.,6100 block, 1 a.m. Dec. 10. A man grabbed a purse from a 43-year-old woman as she was getting into her car. The victim tried to pull the purse back, but the strap broke, and she fell. The man then fled with her purse.

ARLINGTON BLVD.,7200 block, 5:20 p.m. Dec. 12. A man took a cellphone from a 19-year-old man at a gas station. A second man pushed the victim and tried to take his wallet from his pocket. They struggled, and the robber fled without taking anything. The victim was treated at a hospital.

COLUMBIA PIKE,6100 block, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Male occupants of a sport utility vehicle showed knives and robbed two men at a bus stop of cash and cellphones.

KNOLLWOOD DR.,6000 block, 11:50 p.m. Dec. 8. Three men, one with a knife, robbed a 22-year-old male pedestrian of his wallet. The men chased the male to a residence, where they threw several objects through a window. No injuries were reported.

MANITOBA DR.,4900 block, 6:45 a.m. Dec. 6. A man grabbed a bag from a 41-year-old female pedestrian, knocking her to the ground. The man then punched her in the face and kicked her in the stomach, then fled on foot. The woman was treated at Inova Alexandria Hospital.

ROBBERIES


BELLE VIEW BLVD.,1600 block, 11:18 a.m. Dec. 13. A gunman robbed a bank of cash.

FAIRHAVEN AVE.,2400 block, 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Two men crossed a street and approached a male and a female walking in the area. One man hit the male on the head with a bat and demanded cash. The victim gave them his wallet and cellphone, and the robbers fled. No serious injuries were reported.

NORTH KINGS HWY.,6200 block, 2:15 a.m. Dec. 9. A man at a bowling alley thought someone stole his cellphone and threatened to search customers. When an employee told him he could not search anyone, and the man struck him on the head with a bottle. The assailant and three other men then attacked a 22-year-old Maryland man whom he accused of taking the cellphone. They took the man's jacket, which contained his cellphone and keys, and fled. Bullets were fired into an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot as they left in two vehicles.

RICHMOND HWY.,7700 block, 9:45 a.m. Dec. 13. A man entered a bank and passed a note to a teller, announcing a robbery. The teller gave him cash, and he fled. A short time later, a police officer saw the robber and tried to stop him. The man ran, and a second officer saw him run into an apartment building. Officers found him hiding in a crawl space, but he refused to come out. A police dog was sent into the crawl space, and the man fought with the dog, twisting its leg. The K-9 officer went into the space, and the man refused to surrender. Pepper spray was used, and the man reached into his backpack. When he refused to show his hands, a police officer shot him. Edward R. Agurs, Jr., 39, of Woodbridge, was pronounced dead at a hospital. The money from the bank and two box cutters were found in the backpack. An investigation revealed that the man was allegedly responsible for two bank robberies on Dec. 1 and 6.

RICHMOND HWY.,7800 block, 8 p.m. Dec. 9. Two males tricked a 31-year-old man into going behind a shopping center, then punched him and took his wallet. No serious injuries were reported.

VERNON SQUARE DR.,7500 block, 7:40 p.m. Dec. 11. Two men assaulted a 50-year-old male pedestrian, and one chased him as he attempted to run. The pedestrian was robbed of property, and the robbers fled. The pedestrian was treated at the scene by medical personnel.

CENTREVILLE CREST LANE,5900 block, 11 p.m. Dec. 11. A male stranger armed with two forks attacked two 46-year-old male diners in a restaurant. The man tried to punch one man in the face, scratching his neck. During the scuffle, the second man was struck by forks on the cheek. The assailant fled. No serious injuries were reported.

HOMICIDES


OLD BLACKSMITH DR.,6000 block, 10 p.m. Dec. 10. Orator "Jose" Wesley Hall, of the 4800 block of Nash Drive, Fairfax, was shot to death after an argument. An acquaintance of Hall, 24, drove him to the parking lot of a restaurant in the 9500 block of Old Keene Mill Road, where his body was found in the vehicle. Police did not say why Hall was left at the restaurant lot. An investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Burke area man found in a motel in Front Royal. He was charged with murder.

AMERICANA DR.,4900 block, 8:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Three men surrounded a pizza deliveryman walking back to his car after making a delivery. They showed knives and robbed him of cash. The men then fled in a vehicle driven by a fourth man.

MAIN ST.,10500 block, 1:31 a.m. Dec. 10. Police were called about a fight at a business and saw a male in the parking lot yelling and cursing at several people. When a police officer called to the male, he cursed and tried to flee. The male elbowed the officer when the officer grabbed his arm and told him he was under arrest. A 26-year-old Fairfax Station man was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.

BERRITT ST.,4200 block, Dec. 8 to Dec. 9. A three-foot plastic Santa Claus was stolen from the front yard of a residence.

BROOKWOOD DR.,3400 block, 10:05 a.m. Dec. 11. A bicycle was taken from the front yard of a residence. Police located a male juvenile and charged him with petty theft. The bicycle was recovered.

FAIRFAX BLVD.,9700 block, Dec. 6 to Dec. 7. A window was removed from a business, but steel bars on the window prevented entry.

FAIRFAX BLVD.,9700 block, Dec. 6 to Dec. 7. Cash was stolen from a business entered through a window.

FAIRFAX BLVD.,10400 block, 11:42 a.m. Dec. 9. Gas was stolen from a service station.

FLINTLOCK RD.,3100 block, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10. Several packages were stolen after they were left at the front door of a residence.

MAIN ST.,9900 block, 12:30 to 10:45 a.m. Dec. 10. Several bottles of alcohol, shot glasses and other property were stolen from a restaurant. There was no sign of forced entry.

MAIN ST.,9900 block, 12:50 to 7:30 a.m. Dec. 11. An unsuccessful attempt was made to pry open a rear door of a restaurant.

OLD LEE HWY.,3700 block, 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 9. A video recorder, an iPod and a sweat shirt were stolen from a backpack at a skate park.

VANDALISM


WILLARD WAY,10300 block, 2 a.m. Dec. 10. A man threw a pepper dispenser at a vehicle being driven through the parking lot of a restaurant, after an argument earlier in the evening between two groups inside the restaurant. A 23-year-old Burke man was charged with destruction of property and public drunkenness.

WASHINGTON ST. S.,200 block, 5:20 p.m. Dec. 8. A male wearing a ski mask grabbed a person at a bus stop from behind and pulled the person by the arm. The victim elbowed the male, causing him to fall, and ran for help. No injuries were reported.

WEST ST. N.,700 block, 3:30 a.m. Dec. 1. A woman assaulted a person. The person was treated at Arlington Hospital. A 46-year-old Falls Church woman was charged with aggravated assault.

WILSON BLVD.,6700 block, 2:04 a.m. Dec. 10. A man assaulted a person at a nightclub. The person reportedly received minor injuries. A 33-year-old Fredericksburg man was charged with assault.

ELDEN ST.,1200 block, 6:08 p.m. Dec. 10. A man struck an acquaintance. The acquaintance reportedly received minor injuries. A 35-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault.

KNIGHT LANE,1000 block, 1:12 p.m. Dec. 4. A person scratched an acquaintance. The acquaintance reportedly received minor injuries.

MAPLE AVE. W.,200 block, 5:22 p.m. Dec. 6. Police were called about a woman attempting to fill a prescription that had already been filled. A 46-year-old Merrifield woman was charged with prescription fraud.

MAPLE AVE. W.,400 block, 1:58 a.m. Dec. 14. Graffiti was spray-painted on the exterior walls of an office building.
