* Hale Koa (2055 Kalia Rd., Honolulu, http://www.halekoa.com, 800-367- 6027) is within Fort DeRussy on Waikiki Beach and has a pool, fitness center and beach for guests in the resort's 817 rooms. The property at press time offered a 30 percent discount on rooms, food and entertainment to military who'd spent at least a year in Iraq or Afghanistan. Otherwise, a double room starts at $79 for the lowest-ranking members of the military, $116 for the highest-ranking.

* Edelweiss Lodge and Resort (120 St. Martin Strass, Garmisch, Germany,http://www.edelweisslodgeandresort.com, 011-49- 8821-9440) is in the Bavarian Alps in the ski resort town of Garmisch. The property was turned into an R&R center for occupation forces after World War II and was rebuilt as a 330-room resort in 2004. Even the smallest rooms sleep four and begin at $76 for low-ranking members of the military, $119 for the highest-ranking.

* Dragon Hill Lodge (Yongsan Gu, Seoul, South Korea,http://www.dragonhilllodge.com, 11-82-2- 790-0016) is an upscale resort with a shopping area, numerous restaurants and lounges and a luxury health and fitness center. Double rooms begin at $78.
