FIRST DOWN
Keep Running
Ladell Betts has rushed for an average of 137.2 yards in his past four games and the Rams' run defense gives up five yards a carry. But that doesn't mean the Redskins will pile up the yards on the ground. During consecutive weeks in October against Tennessee and Indianapolis -- the two worst teams against the run -- the Redskins did not capitalize.
SECOND DOWN
No Turnovers
Last week, for the first time since Jason Campbell took over at quarterback, the Redskins played a game without a turnover. The difference between Redskins wins and losses the past month has been turnovers. The 24-14 loss to the Falcons turned on two interceptions and the 21-19 loss to Philadelphia was a defensive gem marred by a Campbell interception.
THIRD DOWN
No Letdown
Last week, the Saints -- coming off a huge win -- were flat, and the Redskins battered them. This week, the Redskins must avoid that same fate. They haven't won consecutive games since Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 -- against Houston and Jacksonville -- and haven't won consecutive road games since last year, against Philadelphia and in a playoff game in Tampa Bay.
FOURTH DOWN
Stop the Run
After struggling against the run during the middle of the season, the Redskins have rebounded. Over the past four games, they have become a run-stopping team again. They'll be tested against Rams running back Steven Jackson, who has 1,236 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, and former Redskins back Stephen Davis, who is averaging 4.8 yards per carry in a short-yardage role.
