The Rams took a 31-28 lead with 7 minutes 57 seconds to play in regulation on a 21-yard field goal by Jeff Wilkins. The Redskins tied it with 3:21 to play on Shaun Suisham's career-long 52-yard field goal, but the Rams had a chance to win with four seconds left after driving to the Redskins 23. But Wilkins missed a 41-yard field goal attempt as time expired. The teams exchanged possessions in overtime before the Rams took over at the Washington 39 thanks to a 33-yard punt return by Shaun McDonald. On the fifth play of the drive, Jackson broke loose for a 21-yard touchdown run that kept alive the Rams' slim playoff hopes and dropped the Redskins to 5-10.
