The Redskins began the game with one of their most efficient possessions of the season. The drive started at the Washington 22, with running back Ladell Betts carrying for 11 yards. Quarterback Jason Campbell completed a 10-yard pass to tight end Chris Cooley for 10 yards on second and nine. On third and four from the 50, Campbell completed a 13-yard pass to Cooley, then connected with wide receiver Santana Moss for 14 yards to the Rams 23. Betts carried for seven yards before seldom-used running back T.J. Duckett carried for 11 yards and scored on a five-yard run. Starting CB Shawn Springs fractured a bone in his right shoulder early in the quarter and did not return to the game.
